Monthly Marketing Idea: Weekly Reminder Emails

Marketing experts have long stressed the importance of constant contact with clients as a way to promote business and generate more sales. And in our online world, nothing is easier than sending out a quick email reminding clients about your company and products. A few pricing promotions or limited-time only sales won’t hurt either.

Think about the emails you’ve received this week from list-serves and other companies. If you consistently receive an email from a company that you are mildly interested in or have perhaps purchased something from in the past, then they are doing a good job of staying on your radar in the form of a quick, little “remember me” message. Maybe they include a time-sensitive price promotion. Or a relevant industry tip. Maybe you only open the email half the time. After all, who likes receiving impersonal messages through a mass email account? But the point is that those emails remind you that their company exists and that their sales team is out there and ready and willing to accept your business at any time. Oh - and if you reply before Friday – they’ll give you 20% off on your next order!!

Maintaining client contact is an age-old marketing and sales strategy. If you remind your clients about your company and bring your products and services to the front of their mind, then they’re more likely to respond and that contact will lead to a sale. In our world of constant emailing – what is easier than sending out a quick “Hello, how are you?” email and gently reminding the client about your company and a new, available product or price promotion?

I get all of my weekly email reminders on Wednesdays. Every week, without fail, there are those emails in my Inbox reminding me that time is running out if I want to buy a plane ticket for $59 or a new pair of jeans for 80% off. Most of the time, I don’t bother reading them. But every week, I see those emails from the airlines and the stores and I remember them and think about their company. And the next time I go to buy a new pair of jeans – which company am I more likely to pick? The impersonal department store that I never heard from again? Or the tiny boutique store that sends me weekly emails thanking me for my business and reminding me that their jeans are currently on sale?

For all of our distributors, why not start sending out quick little emails reminding your clients about the new Pearl White Sensitivity Toothpaste? If you’re an aesthetician, why not offer a 10% discount on all first time whitening treatments, or a deeper discount on a touch-up treatment in your office for the month of March? If you need help coming up with ideas for your business or clinic, send us an email at info@beyondwhitespa.com and our marketing staff will be happy to personally help you in developing and implementing this fun, new marketing strategy!

Hydrogen Peroxide vs. Carbamide Peroxide: What’s the Difference?

The two most common active ingredients in teeth whitening are hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide (sometimes called urea peroxide). While the two are very closely related, there are several differences that should be highlighted in explaining why certain manufacturers use hydrogen peroxide and others use carbamide peroxide.

Hydrogen peroxide is “pure” hydrogen peroxide. In other words, it is not combined with any other chemicals. During use, it breaks down into water and oxygen while penetrating through the tooth enamel and breaking apart the longer carbon chain molecules that cause visible stains in the teeth. This oxidizing process is what causes the “whitening” effect.

Carbamide peroxide is hydrogen peroxide dissolved in urea crystals. As a result of the combination of hydrogen peroxide and urea, it is less powerful, weight by weight, than "pure" hydrogen peroxide. Although carbamide peroxide still has hydrogen peroxide as the active ingredient, it has to undergo one more step before it can whiten. This extra step means that carbamide peroxide will act more slowly and will need to be on the teeth for longer.

Hydrogen peroxide is highly reactive and is effective for only about 30-60 minutes once it has been released from its suspended phase. By adding urea, it becomes more stable and can be stored for longer periods. However, it only releases about 50% of its active ingredient in the first two hours. The rest is released over the next 4 to 6 hours.

In general, hydrogen peroxide products are used for short daytime use and carbamide peroxide is used for longer overnight periods. In order to provide the most rapid and effective whitening treatment, all BEYOND™ whitening gels contain hydrogen peroxide as the active ingredient. This shortens our treatment times, but it also means that following the proper storage instructions for the whitening gels is very important.

Ask Dr. Jenny

To ask Dr. Jenny a question, please send an email addressed to her to info@beyondwhitespa.com.

Q: Is the syringe supposed to be used entirely for one client?

From the U.S.A.

A: Each syringe contains enough gel for four, 20 minute applications. The extra gel is for a fourth, 20 minute cycle for those clients with severe stains. If you have a client with severe stains, you will want to split the treatment up over two days and perform two, 20 minute applications on the first day and an additional two, 20 minute applications the next day. To store the extra gel in between treatments, you'll want to remove the mixing tip and replace the original cap that came on the syringe and store it in the fridge until you're ready to use it. You can't use the mixing tips again because the old, inactive gel left in the mixing tip will cause the active gel in the syringe to break down as it comes into contact with the old gel in the tip. Extra mixing tips can be ordered directly from BEYOND™ or from your BEYOND™ WhiteSpa products distributor.
